In the final seconds, pure elation broke out for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández stabbed home a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola in a state of despair and gifted the stand-in Chelsea manager a career-defining moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane was the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch in class, making the memory of Fernández's pivotal intervention one to warm the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Glaring Contrast in Pedigree

On the City bench stood the most decorated manager of his time, a man with an unparalleled CV for football's giants Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, taking charge of his 1,012th match. In the opposite technical area, was a former coach at lower-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and arrived to make his senior managerial bow after being seconded from his regular role guiding Chelsea's youth teams.
